Constellations of Change: Free Webinar & Publication Launch

Join us on Thursday, 9 July, for a free webinar hosted by the Alliance for Socially Engaged Arts, launching Constellations of Change, a new report exploring how socially engaged arts organisations across Europe operate, the impact they create, and the pathways towards more networked and empowered futures.

Constellations of Change arrives at an important moment. Across Europe and beyond, we live in a time of growing inequality, social isolation, ecological crisis, heightened polarisation and declining institutional trust.

In this context, socially engaged arts offer a transformative approach grounded in working collaboratively with communities to respond to complex social realities. Through participatory and co-creative practices, they foster agency, build trust, and create the conditions for profound societal change.

Constellations of Change brings the field into sharper focus: celebrating its diversity and articulating its far-reaching impact, while making the case for greater recognition, support, and investment.

The report includes an assessment of the impact and influence of socially engaged arts, reinforced by a variety of case studies from organisations across Europe; an overview of the challenges and needs of the field; an exploration into the funding and policymaking landscapes; and a set of recommendations for the field to thrive, aimed at policymakers and funders at a local, national, and EU level.

As one of the most comprehensive European mappings of socially engaged arts organisations to date, Constellations of Change is driven by insights from across the field, combining data, surveys, case studies, interviews and policy analysis across Europe.

Commissioned by the Alliance, Constellations of Change has been a collaborative project, developed by The Field Società Cooperativa, Fondazione Santagata per l’Economia della Cultura, and KEA European Affairs.

This event is for all those involved in the socially engaged arts field — organisations, practitioners, academics, funders, policymakers and collaborators from other sectors. It is also for anyone who is curious to better understand the field, its role and impact in society.
